Electrolux/Kenmore Washer uL: Unbalanced Load
What uL Means
uL fires when the drum cannot accelerate to spin speed because the load is unevenly distributed. The board detects excessive vibration at lower speeds and halts acceleration to prevent damage.

Immediate Fix
- Press Cancel. Wait for the door/lid to unlock.
- Open and redistribute the load evenly around the drum. Tangled items (sheets wrapped around small items) are the most common cause.
- Add a few towels if washing a single heavy item (like a comforter). The added items balance the load.
- Restart the cycle.
When uL Is Not Load Imbalance
Shock absorber wear (front-load). Worn shocks allow excessive drum movement at low speeds, triggering the vibration sensor even with balanced loads. Check by pressing down on the drum: it should resist and return smoothly. Bouncing indicates worn shocks.
Suspension springs (top-load). Broken or stretched springs allow the tub to tilt, making balanced loads appear unbalanced to the sensor.
Level issue. A washer that is not level on the floor rocks during spin, triggering the vibration sensor. Check with a spirit level on top of the washer.
