The Lock Mechanism
Same bi-metal lock assembly as Electrolux-branded units (137523700). The bi-metal element heats, bends the latch into position, and a switch confirms locked state. After years of cycling, the element weakens or the switch fails.
Diagnosis and Repair
- Peel back the door boot to expose the lock assembly.
- Test bi-metal resistance: 300-1000 ohms. Infinite = failed.
- Replace lock assembly: 137523700, $25-$55. Two screws.
- Ensure the boot reseats properly around the lock flange.
