Samsung Gas Stove Uneven Flame: Causes & Fix
An uneven, yellow, or lazy flame on a Samsung burner is nearly always a clogged burner port, a misaligned burner cap, or an air shutter that is starved or flooded — not a failed part. Let the burner cool, lift off the cap and head, clear the ports, seat the cap squarely, and the flame usually snaps back to an even…
Read the flame first#
A healthy gas flame is a crisp blue ring of evenly spaced cones. Tall yellow or orange tips mean too little air and incomplete burning; a flame that lifts and roars means too much. One or two dead segments around the ring almost always mean a blocked port rather than anything electrical, so start with a good clean.
The common causes on a Samsung burner#
- Blocked burner ports. Boil-overs and grease plug the little holes around the burner head, so the flame skips those spots. This is the top cause by far.
- A cap sitting off-centre. The burner cap on an NX58 or NX60 has to drop squarely onto its base; nudged sideways during cleaning, it throws the ring lopsided.
- A flooded or starved air shutter. The shutter that meters air into the burner tube can drift, tipping the flame yellow or making it lift.
- A partly clogged orifice. The brass jet that meters gas can carbon up, weakening one burner against the others.
- Wrong gas conversion. A range set up for the wrong fuel — natural gas versus propane — burns yellow or lifts on every burner at once.

Clean it the right way#
With the burner cold, lift off the cap and head and soak them in warm soapy water. Run a straightened paper clip — never a toothpick that can snap off — through each port to clear it, then dry both pieces completely so leftover water does not cause an unrelated clicking. Reseat the head on its locating pins and drop the cap flat and centred. Light the burner: an even blue ring means you are done. If it still tips yellow, the air shutter or orifice needs a technician's adjustment.
Before the holiday roasting season#
Uneven burners cost you the most when a big pot needs steady, even heat for a holiday meal. Pull the caps and clear the ports now so every burner runs a clean blue flame before the cooking marathon begins. If a burner stays yellow or lazy after a thorough clean, book a visit and a technician will check the shutter, orifice, and regulator.
