Set a multimeter to resistance and probe the solenoid terminals; a healthy coil typically reads about 200 to 500 ohms. An open reading or a wildly out-of-range value confirms a dead coil. Also verify your household water pressure sits within the required 20 to 120 PSI range — a valve starved below that spec fills slowly and behaves exactly like a failing one, so ruling out low pressure first can save you an unnecessary part.
