The concealed element (most common)#
Electrolux hides the bake element beneath the oven floor, and it fails from years of thermal cycling — the nichrome wire opens internally with nothing to see on the surface. Don't rely on a visual check; put a meter across its terminals with the power off. A healthy element reads a low resistance, while an open circuit reads infinite and confirms it's done. Because it's concealed, reaching it means lifting the floor panel rather than working from inside the cavity.
The temperature sensor#
If the element tests good but the oven still won't heat, the board may be withholding power because the sensor is feeding it a bad reading. The Electrolux cavity sensor reads about 1,080 ohms at room temperature; measure it cold at the connector, and a value well off that means a failed sensor rather than a failed element. Always check for a sensor fault before condemning a good element.

Separately, the convection ring element around the rear fan can open on its own, so an oven that bakes but won't run convection points at that ring rather than the main bake element.

A bake element that dies the morning of a holiday is a genuine disaster, and it usually gives a warning — a convection mode gone cool, a preheat that drags.
