Both records are substantial for this appliance, so their rows can be compared without the small-sample arithmetic that dominates several other pages in this set.
Two records with the same centre of gravity#
Both columns are led by the control board, and in both it is far ahead of what follows. Samsung's row takes 13% of its record — 87 filings — and its second place, the heating element, takes 3%. KitchenAid's row takes 8%, 31 filings, and its second place, the igniter, takes 3%.
That is the same shape twice: one electronic component carrying several times the weight of anything else, and then a flat tail. Most oven pairings in this set have at least one side with a spread across the heat path; this one has neither.
The difference between them is degree. Samsung's board row is more than four times its second; KitchenAid's is between two and three times its second. Five points separate the two records at the top, and that gap is the substance of the comparison.
