CI indicates a data link failure between the main control board and the compressor inverter board. This code only appears on GE refrigerators with variable-speed compressors — Profile, Cafe, and Monogram models post-2016.
Variable-Speed Architecture
The main board sends cooling demand commands ('run at 60% speed'). The inverter board converts this to variable-frequency power for the compressor motor. CI means this data exchange stopped — the inverter is not responding.
