The heavy brass burner holds what lighter burners shed#
Monogram's stacked brass burners deliver a lot of heat, and that same mass traps grease and boil-over water well down in the ports where a quick wipe never reaches. A damp or fouled burner shorts the spark to the metal and the electrode keeps ticking. Lift the two-piece brass head and cap right off, soak the head in warm soapy water, run a pin through every port, and let the ceramic electrode dry completely before reassembly.
Reseat the machined cap into its notches#
Because the brass cap is machined and heavy, a small tilt is enough to keep gas from meeting the spark, and the burner clicks as it fails to catch. Drop the head and cap back into their locating notches and confirm the cap sits flat with no rock. High-output burners are especially fussy about this, so reseating alone frequently quiets a Monogram.

Look for a cracked electrode#
If a single burner clicks endlessly even when clean and dry, inspect its electrode for a hairline crack or a carbon line running down the ceramic. A cracked electrode bleeds its spark to ground and never lets the burner settle, so it has to be replaced. Check too that the electrode lead is firmly on its terminal behind the burner.
Clicking with everything off#
A Monogram that ticks with all burners off is not a burner problem at all — a spark switch behind a knob has stuck closed and is keeping the module live. Dry around the knobs; if it continues, that switch or the module needs service, which on a pro range is worth doing correctly the first time.
