Reading a Bosch fault#
E24 is the code you will meet. It means the machine could not drain in the expected time, and the causes run from a kinked drain hose to a blocked garbage disposal knockout plug, a failed drain pump impeller, or debris in the pump sump filter. Cleaning the filter assembly at the bottom of the tub clears roughly 60% of E24 calls without a single part.
E09 means the heating element or its relay has failed. Bosch runs a flow-through heater built into the circulation pump assembly, so the water never reaches sanitising temperature and the dishes come out poorly cleaned — and the repair often takes the pump unit with it. Door latches wear at the strike plate or the mechanism after thousands of cycles until they no longer trip the door switch, and on some models the latch is part of the handle. Circulation pumps grind when their bearings wear and eventually leave the spray arms dry. Control modules behind the door panel handle cycle selection, water temperature, fill and error detection, and surges are the usual reason they start behaving erratically.
Reading an LG fault#
LE points at the wash motor or circulation pump: excessive current draw, a locked rotor or a wiring fault, usually from a jammed impeller, worn bearings, or a hall sensor no longer feeding speed data to the board.
AE or E1 means the leak sensor in the base pan found water. It is a safety shutoff, so any internal leak trips it, and diagnosis means tipping the machine to empty the pan and then watching every water-path component. OE is the drain code, and a clogged filter behind the lower spray arm is the leading cause, then a kinked hose, then a dead pump motor. Two non-code complaints round it out: poor drying, because most LG models use condensation drying with no exposed element — rinse aid helps, and a degraded dispenser or vent fan explains the rest — and clogged spray arm nozzles from minerals, food debris and detergent residue. The arms come off for cleaning and a vinegar soak dissolves the scale, but a worn hub bearing means a new arm.
