What this Bosch vs GE comparison is based on#
Two federal report sets are counted on this page and nothing else: 78 CPSC SaferProducts incident reports filed against Bosch ovens between 2011 and 2026, and 960 filed against GE ovens across the same years. A report is a submission — an owner, a public agency or a manufacturer told the Commission that something happened — so both columns count filings, and neither counts ovens built, sold or still plugged in.
The first thing to settle is the size gap, because it decides how much of the rest can be read. GE's record is more than twelve times the size of Bosch's, and the two columns therefore have very different resolutions.
What 78 reports can and cannot carry#
On the Bosch side a single filing is worth more than a full percentage point. Its leading row, the control board at 9%, is seven reports; the two rows at the bottom of its column are two reports each. The whole Bosch profile — every component the classifier could name — rests on fourteen filings out of the seventy-eight. Move three of them and the ordering changes.

The more striking difference is not a number but an absence. Three categories that appear in GE's column are missing from Bosch's altogether: the thermostat or sensor at 1%, the motor at 0%, and the water valve or line at 0%. That absence is almost certainly arithmetic rather than engineering. GE's thermostat row is nine reports out of 960; at that share, a 78-report corpus would be expected to contain fewer than one, and it contains none. The same holds, more strongly, for the two rows GE carries at a single filing each.
How to read the pair together#
Treat the GE column as the profile and the Bosch column as a confirmation that its top row is in the same place. Both records point a technician at the control board first, and both put the heating element and the igniter in the following cluster. Where they cannot help is the question a shopper usually arrives with, because a share of reports has no denominator of units sold and cannot be converted into one.
