What F01 means
F01 means the control has a problem in the oven temperature sensor circuit: the sensor, the control or the wiring between them. The documentation does not say whether the reading is open, shorted or out of range, so check all three in order, and do not cook with the oven until the code is cleared.

| F01 | There may be a problem with the Oven Temperature Sensor, the Control, or the associated wiring. |
What the oven does alongside F01
- F01 and an oven that will not heat — The control will not run the heaters without a sensor reading it trusts.
- Temperatures that wandered before the code — A sensor degrading over weeks often shows as uneven baking first.
- The code on start-up, before any heat — An open or short is visible to the control at any temperature.
- A cooktop that still works on a range — The surface units usually run independently of the oven sensor.
What triggers F01, most likely first
- The oven temperature sensor — First: it lives in the cavity, sees every heat cycle, and is the part most often out of range.
- The connector behind the sensor — Second: heat-loosened or browned terminals give the same reading as a failed sensor.
- Wiring between the sensor and the control — Third: a chafed, pinched or stretched lead, more likely if the range was recently moved.
- The control — Last: its sensor input can fail, but it is the most expensive part and the least likely.
Check order for F01, and why
- Reset at the breaker — Rules out a one-off glitch for free.
- Inspect the sensor in the cavity — A bent or loose probe is visible without tools.
- Measure the sensor unplugged — Compared with the tech sheet chart, it decides sensor versus everything else.
- Test wiring continuity, then the control — A technician does this once the sensor is cleared.
Reset and owner-safe checks
- Reset the control — Breaker off for a minute, then on, and start a bake to see whether F01 returns.

- Find the tech sheet — It is often tucked behind a lower panel or inside the console, and it carries the sensor's resistance chart.

- Measure the sensor, power off — Remove the sensor screws, ease it forward, unplug it and read it on the meter's ohms setting; compare with the chart at room temperature.

- Replace a sensor that reads out of range — Use the sensor listed for your model number, plug it in, refit it, then reset and test.

Safety
Switch off the breaker or unplug the range before removing the sensor screws or any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Take every meter reading with the sensor unplugged and the power off, never on live terminals. On a gas range, if you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off, leave the building, and call the gas utility or emergency services from outside.
When F01 needs a technician
Call when the sensor measures within the chart and F01 still returns, when the reading jumps as you flex the lead, or when you would rather not take the sensor out yourself. Wiring and control tests need the range pulled out and live checks.

Which models this reading covers
This reading of F01 applies to Amana ovens whose control reports the oven temperature sensor circuit with this code, as the table states. Other Amana controls report the same circuit in other formats, and a model-specific page, where one exists, is the better guide. None is listed for F01 yet, so the Amana oven code index below is the place to start.
