Samsung Gas Stove Keeps Clicking: Causes & Fix

Silence it first#

The noise is a nuisance, not escaping gas, but it slowly wears the spark module. To stop it right away, unplug the range or trip its breaker. You can keep cooking in the meantime: hold a long lighter to the burner and turn the knob to light it by hand until the fault is sorted.

Why a Samsung burner clicks non-stop#

Ranges like the NX58 and NX60 drive every cooktop electrode from a single spark module, so a fault often makes more than one burner tick together. The usual triggers:

• Moisture on the electrode — the number-one cause. A boil-over, a damp wipe-down, or steam leaves a film across the ceramic tip that shorts the spark until it dries.
• Food or grease across the gap. Carbonised spatter between the electrode and the burner conducts current just like water does.
• A stuck knob switch. Each knob closes a small switch that calls for a spark; grease or a tired spring can hold it shut so one burner clicks no matter where the knob sits.
• A shorted spark module. Internally failed, it fires one or all channels endlessly even when the cooktop is spotless and dry.
• Chafed igniter wiring. A spark lead pinched against metal behind the panel shorts and produces the same relentless clicking.

Dry it, then clean it#

Take off the burner cap and head and mop up every drop you can see. Point a fan across the cooktop, or a hair dryer on its cool setting, and give it a good half hour — moisture left alone can take an hour or two to clear. Once dry, wipe the electrode and its base with a dry cloth and lift any baked-on crumbs out of the gap with a wooden toothpick. Work the suspect knob briskly between light and off a dozen times to free a sticky switch. If it still clicks after all that, the knob switch or the spark module is the part to replace.

Before the holiday cooking rush#

A cooktop that ticks through every meal is at its most annoying when you are hosting. If a recent deep-clean or a spill left yours clicking, dry and clean the burners now so the range is quiet and ready before the first big dinner. If it keeps clicking when everything is bone dry, book a visit and a technician will test the knob switches and change the spark module.
