The Extra Power button adds wash action and a rinse through a dedicated solenoid and an extended timer routine. When the solenoid or its board circuit fails, cycles run shorter than expected or the button does not respond. Coins, buttons, and bra wires jam the pump impeller, producing a grinding hum and then an F8E1 or standing water. Access the pump — front lower panel on front-loads, bottom-tilt on top-loads — and clear the obstruction; replace the pump if the impeller or bearing is damaged.
6. Water supply / inlet (7%)#
Deep Fill holds the inlet valves open longer than a standard fill, which speeds mineral buildup on the valve screens. Slow or absent fill usually means kinked hoses, a partly closed supply valve, or scaled screens — clean the mesh screens behind the hose connections, and replace a valve whose diaphragm is failing.
7. Suspension / balance (5%)#
Worn front-load shock absorbers or broken top-load suspension rods let the tub bang the cabinet on spin. Maytag's heavier concrete counterweight raises the forces involved, so an unlevel machine wears these parts faster — level it precisely when you replace them.
