What causes FH on a Kenmore front load washer#

Note that two of the three are partial faults rather than total ones. A faucet cracked open, or a screen half-blocked by scale and grit, still passes water — just not fast enough for the fill the washer was waiting on. That is why owners often report the machine "still gets water" while the code insists otherwise. Insufficient and absent look the same to the control.

How to troubleshoot the FH error yourself#

1. Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle, so the washer is not sitting mid-fill while you work behind it.
2. Unplug the washer or disconnect power at the breaker before you touch the connections.
3. Check that both the hot and the cold faucets are completely turned on — all the way, not part-way. A valve left barely open is the most common version of this fault.
4. Look along both hoses for a kink. Pushing a washer back against the wall is what usually creates one, so check after any move.
5. Shut the water off and unscrew the hoses at the washer end. Inspect the screens at that connection and clear anything caught in them.
6. Reconnect, restore power, and start a cycle to see whether the fill completes.

When to call a technician for the FH error#

The faucets, the hoses and the inlet screens are all owner-checkable, and they cover the documented causes of this code.

Call when both valves are fully open, neither hose is kinked, the screens are clean, and FH comes back anyway. The supply side has then been eliminated and the fault is inside the machine — the valve that admits the water, or the sensing that decides whether enough of it arrived.

My washer still gets some water. Why is it still reporting a fault?#

Because insufficient counts the same as absent. A faucet only partly open or a screen partly blocked still passes water, just not fast enough for the fill the washer expected.

At the inlet hose connection to the washer. Turn the water off, unscrew the hoses at the machine end, and the screens sit in the openings behind them.
