The mechanism is worth understanding, because it explains why the machine chooses to leave your laundry wet. A drum that is loaded unevenly cannot be spun at full speed safely, so the washer drops the speed instead. A slower spin extracts less water. The clock stretches too, because the machine keeps trying to redistribute the load before each attempt.

How to fix the F0 E5 error yourself#

1. Open the door and look at how the load is sitting. A single heavy item — a bath mat, a duvet, one pair of jeans among light shirts — is enough on its own.
2. Remove a few of the items.
3. Run a Drain & Spin cycle to finish removing water from what is left in the drum.
4. Wash the removed items separately, or add something to balance them. Bulky single items balance better with one or two similar pieces than they do alone.

Check the machine is level while the door is open. A washer that rocks has less tolerance for an uneven load, so a machine that has drifted off its feet will report this more often than it used to.
