The sequence the manufacturer gives#
- Unplug washer or disconnect power.
- Plug in washer or reconnect power.
- Press and hold START to continue the cycle, or press and hold CANCEL/DRAIN to cancel the cycle.
- If the problem remains, call for service.
Notice how short that list is, and where it ends. Step four is part of the official procedure rather than a fallback — this code is documented as not owner-fixable, and the sequence deliberately stops rather than sending you further into the machine.
Why the verdict here is different#
Most inlet codes are cheerfully free to resolve. A09 is rated high severity and is not marked as a DIY repair, and both of those are worth respecting. The supply-side checks above are still yours to make — a closed faucet is a closed faucet — but once they are clean, the code stops being a plumbing question.
The part associated with A09 is the water inlet hose. Beyond it, a washer that reports insufficient water with a verified supply is either not receiving what it is asking for or not sensing what it receives, and telling those apart takes measurement rather than replacement. That is the honest reason to stop at step four.
