Diagnose first#
On electronic models, read the fault code: F3 E1 flags an exhaust-thermistor open or short, F4 E1 flags an airflow restriction, and AF is the general airflow warning that means clean the vent now. Without a display, let the symptom guide you: no heat is the thermal fuse or element, no tumble is the belt or motor, noise is rollers or a bearing, and long cycles are the sensor or vent.

The shared access routine#
1 - Open the top. Slip a putty knife into the front corners about 2 inches in to release the clips and lift, or on older cabinets remove two rear screws and slide the top back.
2 - Drop the front panel. Remove the two upper screws, unplug the door-switch harness, release the lower clips, and lift the panel off its hooks.
3 - Lift the drum if needed. Push the idler toward the motor to slacken the belt, slip it off the motor shaft, and lift the drum out to reach the rollers, motor, and rear bulkhead.
4 - Belt routing for reassembly. The belt loops the drum with its grooved face inward, drops to the idler, laps the idler wheel through a half turn, and finishes on the motor pulley, where the spring-loaded idler holds the tension.
Swap and test any part#
Pull push-on spade terminals straight off thermal parts and press the locking tab on board plugs, never tugging the wires. Seat the new part firmly, since a loose spade heats up and melts. Reassemble in reverse, then run a short timed cycle with a damp towel and confirm the drum spins smoothly, heat builds within a minute or two, and the AccuDry ends the cycle when the towel is dry.

- AccuDry sensor bars: two metal strips inside the drum; dryer-sheet film coats them and ends cycles early, so clean them with fine sandpaper and alcohol every couple of months.
- Four-way venting: the exhaust can exit any of four directions but only one should be open; after rear work, confirm the correct one is uncapped.
- Thermal fuse: always on the exhaust path, and when it blows the real cause is a restricted vent, so clear the vent before fitting a new one.
