Clean, soak, and scrape in order#
- For daily grime, spread a little glass-cooktop cream (Cerama Bryte or equivalent) in circles with a soft cloth, or use equal parts white vinegar and water for a light pass.
- On burnt-on spots, lay a baking-soda-and-water paste under a warm damp cloth for fifteen to twenty minutes to soften the char.
- For hardened sugar or melted plastic, keep the surface wet with cleaner and push a single-edge razor at about a 30-degree angle in one direction only, blade flat — never dig a corner in.
- Because the glass is thinner, use less pressure on the blade than you would on a heavier cooktop.
Buff, and treat scratches honestly#
Finish with a light spray of vinegar buffed out in straight lines with a dry microfiber cloth to avoid swirl marks. Light scratches can be softened with a dab of cerium oxide polishing compound; anything you can catch with a fingernail is deeper and worth watching for spread. A true crack is not a cleaning problem — it lets liquid reach the wiring below, so the panel must be replaced.
