Frigidaire Washer E35: Pressure Sensor Failure
What E35 Detects
E35 fires when the pressure sensor sends readings the board cannot interpret: stuck at one value, jumping erratically, or outside the expected range. The board uses this sensor to control fill levels, detect overfill conditions, and confirm drain completion.

The Pressure System
A thin rubber tube connects the outer tub to the pressure sensor on the board or chassis. As water fills the tub, air trapped in this tube compresses against a transducer in the sensor. The sensor converts air pressure to an electrical signal the board reads as water level.
Common Causes
Clogged pressure tube. Detergent residue and lint accumulate inside the tube over years. The tube becomes partially blocked, causing sluggish or inaccurate readings.
Cracked or disconnected tube. A crack allows air to escape, so the sensor never registers adequate pressure even when the tub is full.
Failed pressure sensor transducer. The sensor itself has failed electronically.
Safety First — Know the Risks
High-voltage components and pressurized water lines create flood and shock risk. A single loose fitting can cause thousands in water damage. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

Diagnosis
- Unplug. Trace the pressure tube from the tub connection to the sensor.
- Disconnect both ends. Blow through the tube. Air should pass freely.
- If blocked, flush with warm water. If cracked, replace the tube ($5-$10).
- If the tube is clear and intact, test the sensor. This requires a known-good sensor or a diagnostic pressure test setup. Most homeowners replace the sensor at this point ($20-$40 part).

FAQ
Can E35 cause overfilling? Yes. If the sensor cannot detect rising water level, the board may continue filling past safe capacity. The washer has a mechanical overfill protection, but E35 should be repaired promptly.
E35 appeared after using non-HE detergent. Non-HE detergent creates excessive suds that can enter the pressure tube and clog it.
Is E35 related to E11? Both involve the pressure sensing system but from different angles. E11 is a fill timeout (sensor does not report full). E35 is a sensor malfunction (readings the board cannot interpret).
