Cause
The control board's drain pump relay has failed: contacts welded, contacts open, or the relay coil has failed. This is a board-level fault.
Diagnosis
- Unplug. Locate the drain pump connector. Disconnect.
- Measure pump motor resistance: 3-20 ohms expected.
- If pump tests good, the board relay is the failure. Replace the board.
- If pump is open (infinite), replace the pump. But also check if the relay was damaged by excess current from the failing pump.

FAQ
Can I bypass the relay and wire the pump directly? Never. The pump must be controlled by the board to run only during drain phases. Continuous pump operation can damage the pump and cause incomplete wash cycles.
E24 appeared after E21. Related? Possibly. A pump that drew excessive current during E21 conditions may have damaged the relay, causing E24 after the relay finally fails.
