Frigidaire Washer E13: Water Level Dropping During Cycle
What E13 Means
The control board monitors water level throughout the cycle through the pressure sensor. E13 fires when the sensor detects water level dropping when it should be stable (during wash or rinse phases, not during drain). Water is leaving the tub when it should not be.

Three Leak Paths
Drain pump siphon. If the drain hose end sits below the tub water level (no high-loop installation), water siphons out by gravity. The pump does not need to run for this to happen. Fix: ensure the drain hose rises to at least 32 inches above the floor before descending to the standpipe.
Leaking door boot/gasket seal (front-load). The rubber boot seal between the door and the tub can develop tears, especially at the bottom fold where small objects (coins, buttons, underwire) get trapped and wear through the rubber.
Drain pump leak. The pump housing or its seal can crack, allowing water to weep out during the cycle. Check for puddles under the washer.
Diagnosis
- Start a cycle and watch the floor around the washer during fill and wash phases. Any visible water confirms a physical leak.
- If no visible water, check the drain hose routing. The hose must have a high loop.
- If the high loop is correct and no visible leak, the pressure sensor may have a slow air leak in its tube, causing it to register dropping level when the actual level is stable.
Safety First — Know the Risks
High-voltage components and pressurized water lines create flood and shock risk. A single loose fitting can cause thousands in water damage. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

Common Fix
On front-load Frigidaire washers, E13 is most commonly caused by a drain hose installed without a proper high loop. The siphon effect slowly drains the tub. Raising the hose to the correct height is a free fix.

FAQ
Is E13 a flood risk? If the leak is through the drain hose or pump, water goes into the drain system, not onto the floor. A boot seal leak puts water on the floor.
E13 appears inconsistently. A marginal drain hose height allows siphoning only when the standpipe has standing water from other appliances draining simultaneously.
Can too much detergent cause E13? Excessive suds can confuse the pressure sensor into reading false level changes. Use HE detergent only.
