The evidence here is two federal complaint records: 273 CPSC SaferProducts incident reports naming a component on a Frigidaire refrigerator between 2011 and 2026, and 170 doing the same for a Whirlpool refrigerator over the same years. Shares are shares of those totals, and neither total counts appliances sold or in service.
The rankings agree; the concentrations do not#
This is an unusual pairing in one specific way: the two columns put the same components in the same order at the top. Ice maker first, compressor second, wiring or power cord third, on both sides.
What differs is how much of each record those three rows hold. On the Whirlpool side they take 58, 32 and 16 filings out of 170 — 106 reports, close to two thirds of the record. On the Frigidaire side the same three take 77, 27 and 14 out of 273, which is 118 reports, or under half.
That is the real finding on this page, and it is not visible from any single row. Whirlpool's complaints resolve into a short list of named components more often; Frigidaire's spread further down, and a larger portion of its record sits in rows of one to five filings.
Row by row, the gaps all lean one way#
The compressor is 9 points apart, 19% of the Whirlpool reports against 10% of the Frigidaire ones. The ice maker is 6 points apart, 34% against 28%. The wiring or power cord is 4 points apart, 9% against 5%. All three lean the same direction, and all three are supported by decent counts on both sides.

That is a property of how the complaints were written, and it is the most likely single explanation for three same-direction gaps across the top of this page.
