Amana Washer F3 E1: Water Level Pressure Sensor Not Responding
F3 E1 means the pressure transducer reported an out-of-range value to the control board. The transducer measures water depth through an air column in a small hose connected to the outer tub. When the reading falls outside expected boundaries, the board cannot determine water level and halts the cycle.
Flood Risk Warning
A failed pressure switch can cause the fill valve to stay open indefinitely — the board thinks the tub is empty when it is full. Turn off water supply valves behind the washer until F3 E1 is repaired.

Pressure System on Amana Washers
The system has four components:
Air dome: A molded nipple on the outer tub with a small hole. Water pushes air through this hole into the pressure hose. Clogs from detergent residue and hard water minerals are the most common failure on Amana washers.
Pressure hose: 1/4-inch rubber tube from the air dome to the transducer. Cracks and kinks prevent accurate readings.
Pressure transducer: Electronic sensor converting air pressure to voltage. Amana uses a simpler analog transducer than premium models.
CCU input: The board's analog-to-digital converter reads the transducer signal.
Diagnosis by Component
Air Dome (35% of Cases)
Clear with a paperclip or compressed air burst. Soak with vinegar if mineral deposits are heavy. Sacramento hard water accelerates this failure.
Pressure Hose (25%)
Disconnect at both ends. Blow through — zero resistance expected. Any blockage: soak in hot vinegar or replace (W10004399, $6-10).
Transducer (25%)
Disconnect and measure resistance: 2K-20K ohms expected. Apply gentle mouth pressure — resistance should change smoothly. Fixed reading = failed. Part: W10448876, $20-35.
CCU Input (15%)
If all components test good, the board's ADC channel has failed — uncommon but possible.

Why Amana Is More Susceptible to F3 E1
Amana's air dome fitting is smaller diameter than Maytag's, making it more prone to clogging. The transducer uses fewer noise filtering components, so even minor connector corrosion throws the reading out of range. Annual cleaning of the air dome prevents most F3 E1 occurrences.
Cost
Air dome clearing: $0. Hose: $6-10. Transducer: $20-35. Professional: $90-180.
