A further 15 codes were considered and left out: only one chart listed them, or a chart contradicted itself, or it named several manufacturers at once. The lookup declines those by name rather than defaulting them to the most common answer.
Two public charts document Kenmore source codes: the iFixit wiki and Appliance411. A code enters our table only when both name the same corporation, and both name it usably. One chart alone is a claim, not a corroboration; a chart that files the same code under two different manufacturers is treated as saying nothing about that code rather than as offering a choice.
That gate is why the answer above quotes each source verbatim — you can see exactly what was said and by whom, instead of taking our conclusion on trust. It is also why the lookup refuses as often as it does. Naming the wrong manufacturer sends you to the wrong parts diagram and the wrong error-code list, and it does so with total confidence, which is the failure mode worth engineering against.
One limit we state rather than paper over: neither chart records which appliances a source code covers. So a resolved code tells you the builder of your unit, not the product line — pair it with the appliance you actually own.
The manufacturer is the key to everything downstream — the error codes your machine shows, and whether it is covered by a safety recall.
