Before You Start#
- Tools: a Phillips #2 screwdriver, a 1/4-inch nut driver, needle-nose pliers, and a multimeter.
- Part: the model-specific Samsung terminal block (look it up by your model number, which starts NE, NX or NY). Match the cord type too — three-prong on older circuits, four-prong on modern ones.
- Time and level: 25-45 minutes, intermediate.
- Safety: switch off the range's breaker — usually a 40 or 50 amp double-pole — and confirm the clock, display and oven light are dark. Never loosen a cord lead with power connected.

Replacing the Terminal Block#
- Cut power at the breaker and confirm everything is dark before touching the connection.
- Pull the range out and remove the small terminal-block access cover on the lower back panel (a few Phillips screws).
- Photograph how the cord lands — on a four-prong cord the two hots, neutral and ground each have a place, and the neutral-to-ground bonding strap differs between three- and four-prong setups.
- Loosen the terminal screws, free the cord leads, and back out the block's mounting screws.
- Meter the old block for a cracked or burned terminal to confirm it is the fault and not the cord or an upstream breaker.
- Fit the new block in the same orientation, land each lead on its matching terminal, and tighten the screws firmly so nothing can work loose under load.
- Refit the cover, restore power, and confirm the clock, elements and oven all come up — run a burner briefly to verify both legs of the 240V supply are live.
Troubleshooting#
- Only some functions work: one 240V leg is open at a loose or burned terminal — cut power and re-land that lead.
- An error code appears: reset the board by cutting the breaker for 5 minutes; a persistent code points to a second fault.
- Terminal scorching returns: the cord leads were not tightened enough, or the cord tails are heat-damaged and need re-terminating.
