That is why the cavity keeps climbing while the controls seem dead, and why the breaker is the only safe response. The board is replaced as a unit.

2. Shorted temperature sensor#

The oven's temperature sensor reports how hot the cavity is. When it shorts internally and reads 0 ohms, the board reads that as a stone-cold oven and commands maximum heat indefinitely, so the element never cuts off. A sensor short and a welded relay look identical from the front panel, which is exactly why the diagnosis is done with a meter rather than by guessing.

3. Touch control stuck from moisture#

On glass touch-panel models, steam or a spill can seep behind the glass and bridge a control pad, holding a cook function "pressed" so the oven will not turn off. It is less dangerous than a welded relay but still keeps the oven running. Letting the panel dry fully sometimes clears it; a pad that stays stuck means the touch control needs replacing.
